HLSA's goal is to endow the law school and the legal community with the many talents HLSA's members possess. HLSA encourages ALL students to participate in our many exciting, service-oriented activities that seek to foster an environment where Latin culture can thrive. In order to achieve these goals, HLSA has attained a healthy balance of work and play. Some of our service-oriented activities include: Maintaining an outline bank, free of charge, for most 1L courses compiled from past "A" student members; a student-mentor program that pairs up students with local, practicing Hispanic attorneys; student run lectures on test taking, outlining, and job hunting skills; bringing speakers to the law school to discuss current issues of interest; and participating in Canes Carnival. Membership has its rewards, and HLSA's cultural events seek to reward students for their participation in the club. Some of these activities include the following: 1L and upperclassmen mixers where you can also meet members of the faculty and administration; selling some of your favorite Hispanic dishes on the bricks; Happy Hour get-togethers; and making great friends at our lively meetings.

New members pay $40.00 to help fund our workshops, banquets and other activities throughout the year - including lunch at our meetings. Veteran members pay $30 for the same. HLSA does not wish to discourage participation based on our membership dues. As a result, we are reasonable with the timing of payment. |
