Mission Statement
The Maritime Law Society, established in 1987, was founded by students of the University of Miami School of Law to serve as a forum where students, professors, and alumni could discuss maritime related issues as well as to participate in the area’s vast maritime culture. Miami, located in the South Eastern portion of the Florida peninsula, is an ideal location for those who have an interest in maritime issues. The area boasts the largest concentration of motor and sailing vessels in the United States and is host to hundreds of sailing regattas and water sporting events. In addition, the Port of Miami is the largest year-round cruise ship port in the world averaging nearly three and a half million passengers each year. Furthermore, Miami is located minutes away from the twenty-eight hundred square nautical mile Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, home to the only tropical coral reef in the continental United States. Faculty Advisor: 2007-2008 Officers: Admiral -Jeff R. Vogel
Former Admirals: 2006-2007 - Stephanie Shermeta
