GOTTA REGATTA

The annual Gotta Regatta is the Maritime Law Society’s charitable fundraising event. The regatta typically centers around a triangular racecourse and combines both competitive racing and casual sailing. After the day’s sailing is finished, a reception is held at local dockside tiki bar where each crewmember on the top three finishing boats will receive a trophy, and all participants of the regatta will have the opportunity to relax and recount the events of the day.

For the past few years the beneficiary of the Gotta Regatta has been the Shake-A-Leg-Miami Foundation. Shake-A-Leg, established in 1990, is a universally accessible water sports facility. The Foundation's main goal is to encourage and assist people with disabilities so that they may enjoy water sports. Proceeds from the regatta are used to outfit sailboats and purchase equipment to ensure the security and safety of the Shake-A-Leg’s Coconut Grove facilities and the program's participants.
